Not an expert on Darwin but spent several weeks there last year. There are lots of things to do in Darwin. Litchfield and Kakadu are within a reasonable drive although you might want to spend a day or two in Kakadu if you can as there is lots to see. Love the markets Mindil Beach and Parrap are two of the best markets. Mindil Beach are on Thursday and Sunday late afternoon/evenings (I assume that it is still going in October). Parap markets are on Saturday morning. Great food venues although the do have other stalls as well. Enjoy.
