We were lucky enough to not only celebrate mothers day but experience a mothers week in Bali. After only a 20 minute wait at the airport (yes, the gods were shining on us), got to the bali ayu hotel in seminyak, and into the newly renovated 1 brm villas near the back of the hotel. Beautiful, airy room and bathroom - and staff are so very friendly. First 24 hours in bali I spent by myself as the inlaws were arriving the next night, so it was fun to experience the day, doing what I pleased.
Went to Bintang supermarket for supplies, cracked open a bintang then a relaxing swim followed by a relaxing massage. Had this at Anugrah, couple of doors down from the hotel. Was so good, went back again for mothers day and had the cantik package - facial, massage, scrub, pedicure for 110 000 - included a tip as Wayan is faultless , I'm a massage therapist myself and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Carrefour the next day - like a bali Walmart. Got an Iron man tshirt there for the son and my husband!! The Pub after this for satay, cold bintangs and dvds from Aris. That night more satay at Enys Warung - beautiful, just can't get enough of it (even now, thinking about it, I'm craving it!).
Next day, went to Turtle Island - this trip organised by bali success tours - incl transfers to and from hotel, snorkelling for an hour than a quick tour of the amazing animals on turtle island. Turtles were amazing to see and our guide was very entertaining - a bit of a "rooster" but so good natured.
Went into Kuta that night, Goshas for drinks then nearby Ketumbar for dinner. Great venue, loved the colours of the decor and the meal was excellent too.
Saturday spent morning at Seminyak Square, walked there from the hotel. Bought some beautiful silk dresses and jewellery then off to Warung Murah for lunch - 16 000 for a full plate of bali chicken, rice, vegies, unbelievably good! Dinner at Moroccan restaurant - Kaima on Jl Laksmana - belly dancers then tourists also got up and put on a show - so amazing and the food was too. Then to Bali beach shack on garlic lane for the drag show - Beyonce is gorgeous! Motorbike to Paddys - was feeling pretty goood after the Jagermeister bomb and felt like I could conquer the world after paying 50 000 for the drink made by the cocktail show on stage, was dancing on the stage by this point....then Apache Bar but we only got as far as the front door as we were too interested in the Turkish pipe. 50 000 rupiah for this and spent about an hour having incredible head spins - I'm a non smoker!Back at the hotel at 3am, oh , what a night...me being in bed normally by 10pm.
