Started out with a great Direct flight with Pacific Blue from Adelaide...gotta love that. There is 4 of us, My wife Inge and i and another couple Paul & Sue. After landing at 12.30 and getting through the usuall congestion and picking the slowest que as usual. Walked out the front doors to see the big smile of our driver Scooby Doo waiting for us..bit warmer than when we left home. Straight to the Griya Santrian booked in(got upgraded...25 steps to the Pool)then straight to the pool bar to drink the first of many Bintangs by 2.30 was pretty good, the girls were into the cocktails when they realised buy 2 get 1 free!!!! what a great way to begin our 12 day holiday. As we had not planed too many outings this is to be a relaxing trip, the hardest decision we had to make was which way to turn to go out for tea each night. When we stayed at the Besakih last year we had our first meal at the Wicked Parrot so we thought would do it again. Had told my mate that the mixed grill was the go. while eating our meal a couple of girls walked dressed in Heineken dresses..and me being a sucker for a couple of pretty Balinese Girls, i agreed to the promo of 4 Heinekens to get a free pair of sunnies and a Photo, then to be told they didn't have any cold one's(only in Bali) they decided to put them in an ice bucket, After a couple of Bali Ciders with ice we tackled the coldish Heinekens...got them down with a bit of help from Paul. The entertainment is good, with an Irish theme, I think we are off to good start. Up for breakfast the next morning good smorgasboard, then back to the pool area by our room, we had brought a bottle of Gin & Bundy to have buy the pool so off to Hardy's to get some supplies. back we come with the usual Chip's,Nut's etc. Mix up a brew of Gin & Tonic(have to keep up the fluids) and back to the pool area to decide what to do today.
I had seen a bar on the forum called The Ducks Nutz which was now owned by an aussie couple so we thought this would be good for a nice cold bintang. The girls said they would meet us there later.
We arrive at the Ducks Nutz and greeted by Bill the owner, we took our seats at the bar and yes the Bintangs were bloody cold, probably the coldest we had all trip. Once he new we were from adelaide out come the footy jibes which was good fun, he is a Carlton supporter so he was yapping about the Blues are comming, watch out! The girls arrived later and we stayed for tea which was very good,a copule of Mei Goreng, Nasi, & Inge had a Beef Rendang mmmmm,we also had the pleasure to meet some great people from WA & NT while were in the Ducks Nutz among them was Bloody Ron. All had some great stories to tell. Thanks to Bill and his lovley wife Gayle for there hospitality. We did go back for drinks a few time for a couple of coldies while the girls were off shopping and massages etc.
Will post some more of our Lazy Adventure later.
