To answer your questions:
The food and shopping isn't the same as Bali.
You'll like shopping in Vietnam if you like the sound of stunning hand-embroidered works of art, beautiful ceramics and lacquer ware, those big wooden model sailing ships, and very good shoe and clothes tailors
I thought the prices were very good, especially for accommodation.
I never had a bad meal in Vietnam. Some say the food is better than in Bali, and i particularly liked the french influenced food of Hanoi.
Stunning scenery? Omg it's beautiful beyond anything i could have imagined
The Vietnamese people i met are more reserved than Balinese people i've met. And yes, they were friendly :)
