So glad that your husband is fine and great to hear that all the systems fell into place without putting you and your family under any more un-necessary pressures. Unless you are placed in this position it is hard to conceive how expensive overseas hospitals can be even without a full medical evacuation which was necessary in your husband's case.
When I operated my Travel Agency in Adelaide I would not accept a booking unless my clients either took insurance offered by me or provided me with proof of adequate insurance cover.
I am of the firm belief that if you can't afford to buy travel insurance then you should not travel at all - and your case is perfect proof of the need for insurance - which I saw on just so many occasions over my 22 years operating Golden Bali.
