Hi,
I never put in wood items otherwise as Gary said your package will definately be opened and need to be fumigated probably, or wooden items confiscated. I have never had my 20kg box opened. Maybe this is due to never putting wood, shells or other items in that you have to declare. I live in NSW (not country area) and it gets delivered right to your door. On your documents you write down an alternative address in case you are not home. If this happens and they cant deliver it it goes to the nearest PO from where you live and you will have to pick it up from there. Seeing you live in the country I dont know whether you will jut get a notice from the PO saying the parcel is there ready to be picked up?

If you are going to buy alot of wood, I think you can get it fumigated in Bali and they then give you a certificate stating that they have fumigated it and then maybe allowed into Australia without further treatment..not sure though...why dont you contact customs in SA and ask a few questions about it, or maybe get some info on line.
Good luck with it all..Cheers Linda
