Ya best bet is to check with your bank what kind of outlets they have in bali, I know those shops will take credit cards, but youd probably find as with eftpos, your bank will charge a hefty international fee per transaction..
Commomwealth Bank has some ATMs, which i used my westpac card at... I was charged an international trans fee per use, and they also charged me a percent of the amount I withdrew.. they do however pay current currency conversions into rupiah or US dollars... the extra few bucks it cost to do this gave a more secure feeling than carrying around thousands of dollars in cash until ya get your safety deposit box at the hotel(then pray that doesnt get stolen)
