My suggestion would be to walk into your nearest travel agent and book in person if you dont feel safe booking online..
However...
I have used all of the following many times without any issues -
After paying with your credit card they will email you a confirmation to print out and give to the hotel at check in..
These ones usually require full payment up front:

There are others that allow you to pay on arrival - after paying a $10 deposit.
