Our dogs have always chased away the rats and now we have an extra 5 pups in the house, we rescued them at 4 days old, now 5 weeks and ready soon to leave their Mum (me). They are Golden Retriever crossed with a Bali dog (Balinese neighbours did not want to look after them when the mother died, she was stuck in their front gate)
