that Denpasar proper is a fair way from Kuta / Legian etc.
For tailors, I would stick with Kuta Legian.
In Denpasar, you could start at Ramayana, and when leaving turn to the right.
Cross the road (with some luck!) and the computer place is opposite.
Come out of computer shop, and with Ramayana opposite you, walk to the left, about 400 yards past a mix of small shops including some optics places and good watch places.
You then turn half left again at the roundabout, walk along the 20 or so gold shops then left to Jalan Sulewesi (Cloth - as previously mentioned by another)
Walk the length (about 250 mtrs) of this and the main markets span the river on your left.
There is a large open market, and two other multi storey buildings doing spices, raw meats, flowers and touristy stuff.
Try to avoid being hi-jacked by a "guide" and you may be best to have a driver with you as taxis may be hard to get back to Kuta or wherever from there.
There are not a lot of obvious snack places there, although there is one on the first floor of the "touristy stuff" place.
Good luck.
