Hi Roberto, you might find posting on another forum like thorn tree that is frequented by travellers to be more helpful to you. The majority of posters on this forum are short stay tourists who think $40 a night is a budget hotel.

You are unlikely to get an apartment with kitchen for your budget but don't despair. You will be able to find cheap homestay accommodation that is clean and comfortable, and eat in local warungs. There are plenty of places to stay for $10-$15 per night including breakfast. Local warung food will cost you around $3 each for a meal + coffee. You will also be more likely getting around by public transport, or rent a motorbike/scooter. However the traffic in Bali is pretty bad, so that would only be for the brave.

I recommend you avoid the tourist traps of Kuta / Legian, and explore inland and north Bali. There are plenty of wonderful places to explore. You can also hop on a ferry and go over to Lombok, where there are also plenty of cheap places to stay and new cuisine to try.
Good luck!
