We did this trip by car just over a week ago.
The road seemed fine ( for a car) but if there has been rain in other parts of Bali expect very heavy fog if you travel through Kintamani.
We hit a lot of fog and couldn't see further than the sides of the road, and no further than a couple of cars in front of us.
Thankfully most drivers put their headlights on but watch out for children on pushbikes.
We passed through Kintamani at about 5pm and it was a bit cold. You'll need a jacket.
Ubud to Lovina we went via Bedugal. Again, for a car the roads seemed fine although extremely curvy.
