Many discount airlines sell their fares as one way fares these days and there is no discount for booking a return flight.
VOA rules are that you need to show an onward journey out of Indonesia, but there is nothing to stop you using different airlines.
one way is not in US - only some airlines put in US if you book from Indonesia to Australia. Others (like Air Asia) put in the currency based on what you select as your home country.
