whether or not you actually bought marijuana or whether you just were told the quality was not good and I don't need to know. This reply is not aimed at you but to others reading this post.
The thing is, for any Bali first timers, young or not so young, the issue is not with the quality. The issue is that in Indonesia it falls under the same category as Heroin or other "more serious" drugs and the penalty for being caught buying or using it is the same.
Now I am not so naive that I think locals and tourists don't use it. They do. The risk you take as a tourist is however different from that in your own country where it may be, legal, tolerated or treated as a minor offence since in Indonesia you could actually end up in prison and prisons in Indonesia are no walk in the park.
It has long been believed that sometimes the police use fake sellers to entrap tourists. I can't say for sure that this is so nor can I say for sure it is not. Perhaps they are only going to shake you down for money or maybe you will be arrested. Maybe someone else knows for sure.
Please think hard before you buy or use in Bali.
Glad that you enjoyed your trip:-)
