that if a person gets a licence in Bali that they are not covered ? Personally I think if someone doesn't have a decent level of experienced at riding a motorbike & they rise one in Bali - that they very silly & are not own putting their own health or
life at risk but their current & future financial welfare & that of their loved ones.
I feel it's a bit of a loop hole getting a motorbike licence in Bali (money making scheme) but technically it is a license that is valid for Indonesia.I may be wrong but I thought I had read the fine print of most of the travel insurance companies documents - that cover motorbike riding in Bali & they mention " A licence that is recognised in the country.I would be very interested to hear if anyone on the forum has only had the local license, had an accident & had to make a claim for either personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation back to Australia & /or damages to the motorbike &/or other property. It would no doubt be of interest to others here if such a claim was successful or if the insurance company were able to get out of paying somehow.
Please correct me if you think I am wrong re the validity of a local license because this topic has been one I have been very interested in over the years. Each time we travel I check all details & the fine print & also phone to see if the travel insurance company that we are dealing with at the time has changed any of their rules or shifted the goal posts further in their favour.
