cannot believe that those beautiful trees in front of hotels will go or have gone.Sad not only for us tourists who love to sit and chat with the balinese while they take a break from selling in the hot hot sun or where we can lay and protect ourselves from getting shrivelled up.Those trees outside Mandira gave that beautiful outlook to beach especially at sunset. My family and I had 10 wonderful years staying at Mandira many many years ago, where I could sit on the grass edge at hotel(no road then)and my young children would make their way through the bush there to play and talk with sellers and their children and wait for the corn seller every afternoon. The Mandira then was a relaxing, friendly hotel where you felt like you were really in bali unfortunately over the years and new owners it became a modern resort catering for the higher end of tourism(not to say its not a beautiful hotel).Just memories of pool staff doing a fire check first time using fire hose and hosing down everyone who sat in the deck chairs knocking them off or Wayan the pool man who now is security with my children on his shoulders while working playing with them or watching the pool guys clean pool with diving gear. Now the trees gone???How sad bali changing so rapidly maybe we should petition like the japanese did many years ago about the sellers and stop destruction of bali beaches who wants pristine beaches with no trees we have that here at home thats not why I go to bali how about you?I think its time for the Indonesian government to hear from one of their main tourists that as environmental point of view and necessity for the balinese and ourselves leave the trees where they are!!!!!!!p.s. have the most beautiful photo from last year of a very old balinese lady alone sitting under one of those beautiful trees late afternoon looking at ocean is that all Ill have to remember the beach by in years to come?
