Did three days on bikes last August with two other mates and had a great time. Will be in Bali 11th May (12 sleeps)with six of us and this time will be heading to Amed first day, next day up to Lovina on the coast road and staying at Lovina for a night. The next day, back track a little then start the climb up to Kintamani, then on to Ubud for the third night. Next day back to Kuta for three nights, travelling to Nusa Dua and other places during this time.
So ther are plenty of places to see and visit on the way. We have not booked accomodation at Amed, Lovina or Ubud, as we want it to be more of an adventure.

My experience riding in Bali is (DON'T RIDE BIKES ON) try to avoid the road from Kuta to Gilimanuk. The west coast road. With the overloaded trucks, this is a very dangerous road.

If I wanted to ride into Java on this trip, I would do Amed, Lovina, Gilimanuk into Java, back to lovina, up to Ubud and back to Kuta. I intend never to ride the west coast Road again. The bypass up the East coast is dangerous as well, but not as bad. Also the traffic on the beach road near Sinaraja can be wild as well.

I hope this helps.

p.s. must catch up one trip for a drink, we both go often enougth.

Bob
