A good place to stay in Ulluwatu is Sandat Mas Homestay, very safe for your stuff, run by a lovely family and clean rooms. Around $30 a night per room. There is also Rocky Bungalows around 250,000rp (a little over $30) but has a nice pool, some of the rooms have a strange smell though. We stay at a villa that rents the rooms out on a room by room basis and you can get a downstairs twin room for $20 to $30 depending on the season. Lovely villa and pool.
In Lombok we have stayed at Desert Point- Aman Gati 2 hotel (same owners as the one at Lakey Peak), simple rooms overlooking a gorgeous bay with desert around 10 mins away, really relaxed place and staff great. 250,000rp a night
Also stay at Kuta Lombok and surf Grupuk. We stay at Surfers Inn. Great small hotel with pool, and breakfast, fan rooms start at 100,000rp.
You didn't ask about Lembongan but it is a great surf spot and laid back Island. Great cheap places to stay, we stay at Puri Nusa, 100,000rp for fan room.
