cancelled an international flight (NZ-AUS return) just recently
Was offered credit minus booking fee credit card fee (only small amount)
have been given credit for 12 mths from time of cancelation to book only. You do not need to travel within 12mths only rebook using credit.
I think they were really good to deal with.
So sorry to here of your situation. May I make a suggestion that you dont cancel yet. Wait to closer to the time of flights (think you have up until 24hrs prior). A trip to Bali may be what you & a family member, close friend etc need. Just some time out. Good luck
