find some aussie behaviour leaves alot to be desired and yes it comes from people of all socio-eco backgrounds.
We used to stay in 4 star accom. in the big resorts but after trying a smaller hotel one year we decided it was the only type of place we would stay in in future. They are more friendly, guests and staff alike. It feels like being apart of a small family not just a number as most larger resorts treat you.
We also love eating where the locals do, not only finding the food cheaper but fresher and more relaxed.
I have often felt embarrassed to say Im Australian when in bali as some of our fellow Aussies are rude and obnoxious. My husband is Balinese and I will never forget our trip back to Aus. last year when this big loud and rude Aussie lady kept deliberately pushin my husbands seat and then decided to yell very loudly at cabin crew when we complained. We ended up moving seats but my husband was so upset because he thought he had done something wrong. This woman's behaviour is one reason why Aussies get a bad name overseas.
I am always amazed why white people think they are so superior to other races. leave the attitude at home when you travel and show some respect.
