So we have finally gotten inside the villa. It's stinking hot so we turn the air con in the bedroom while I unpack.Doesn't seem too cool but think it will kick in soon.It did very well for the next 7 days cooling the room down to 27 or 28 degrees & this was if it was left running 24/7.Turn it off for a hwile & it hours to even get down to 27 degrees. While I am unpacking he turns the fan on in the living area - 1 fan with a single speed for a very large kitchen /dining/living area. One could get cooler by running around in ever increasing circles compared with the speed the fan turned at ! It starts to get dark so we turn light switches on - only 1/4 of the globes work - the rest have blown or are missing. The so called not steep flight of stairs would put a mountain goat at ease- I had told the owner I was recovering from a recently broken ankle & specifically asked about the stairs & lighting at the house. It is promoted as kid friendly, maybe I should be very specific & say the word KID is mentioned & not child because kid friendly would be kid as in a goat ! There is no way in hell I would want anyone with a toddler or even a young child or less than a teenager going up & down those stairs - especially at night since the lighting is almost mo existant since most of the globes don't work.
The few times I went upstairs I was scared I would fall & break other bones & my other husband always came down the stairs backwards hanging onto the rail on 1 side because even he did not feel safe. The other thing that made my other half so very happy was while I was unpacking & he was upstairs he discovered that the full cable TV service that we had paid for was only 1 Indonesian channel that had horrible reception.More details later but we found out the owner had not paid her cable TV bill & the set top box for Cable TV had completely died.Oh believe it or not,it just kept on getting better. We both go to the loo & the knob to flush the toliet with falls off in our hands & won't go back on -so we have to take the top off the cistern & stick our hands inside & flush manually. Also the mat on the bathroom floor is dripping wet & filty dirty when we arrive. This smeely dirty badly stained mat kept on appearing everywhere around the house for 7 days in spite of the fact I continually said to the staff that it was due to be burnt.
A huge collection of dead mozzies on top of the net that covers the bed & various stains greeted me as I laid on the bed & looked up.Half of the furniture, cupboards ,runners & mats that are on the 2 websites are also missing. The wardrobe is not what anyone would call a wardrobe because the hanging space is the length of dolls clothes - it's just shelves in a wardrobe. The shower curtain has more mould on it than blue vein cheese & smells terribly. No ventilation in the bathroom. The toliet problems in the ensuite bathroom are getting worse & the water in the loo runs 24/7 - lovely to listen to non stop running water as you try to sleep. The bathroom is like an oven most of the time because 1/2 of the roof is clear broken sheets of alsynite type of material with small holes in it & the sun heats this up & makes the room like a sauna. The tap fittings are on a bad state & difficult to use & if you manage to change them over to a bath from a shower it is damn difficult to change them back. The hot water service is hard to work out & no instructions to be found. When we finally get it working - the flow of water well without being crude about what could flow quicker I am not sure how to put it.When bought to the owners attention she said maybe we have run out of gas.Well Gee,maybe you should have checked this & everything else out before paying guests moved into the house.
Early the next morning the motorbike we have organised to hire arrives. We were tired when we arrived & didn't look around properly outside so think we will see where the garage is to park the motorbike out of the weather. It is listed on the website at the time we booked as a garage/covered carport - details have since been changed.I rarely trust insurance salemen because I think they are full of BS but this owner would run rings around any real estate salesman, insurance salesman or politician for the amount of BS that flows. The so called garage, undercover carport was a shanty type of lean to - a few thin bit's of timber attached to the fence with some alsynite type sheets that were rotting & falling apart & had many holes in them.It looked like a kindy kid had put it together in 5 minutes & that a good gust of wind would blow it down in less. There was one whole section missing.Darn lucky for the owner that residential tenancies don't operate in Bali <LOL>
That's it for Part 2 - more later.
