I would never hire a car in Bali - - I initially was worried about the driving there and then others on teh forum have made the decision a little easier - - read the archives about accidents and the process and the police to make your own decision.
When we are in Bali we use a driver at all times, this enables us to support the economy (and it is relatively inexpensive in real terms) and for everyone to enjoy the scenery/holiday without the pressure of driving.
In reading the forum a lot of others do hire cars and everything is good with them- - - it is just not for me. do some investigation about the pros and cons and make your own decision - - either way I am sure that you will have a great holiday -- It is a wonderful place.
