How long do Simpati simcards last?

I have one that I bought in November 2009. I thought that they lasted only 3 months without buying credit but I recently turned it on and received an sms from Simpati (that I do not understand). The phone could still have credit but a pulsa call to check does not work from Perth.

Anyone know if it is still good. It would be great if it was as quite a few friends have that particular cell phone number.
