Airlines are all as bad as each other

In recent years Air NZ cancelled 2 of our flights, I only found out by checking their website and our flight had disappeared so I rang.
We ended up going a day earlier and come home a day later. We had to overnight in Auckland in order to catch our flight to and from the Cook Islands. Travel Insurance said we weren't covered as we knew about it before we left home. I hung out with ANZ and they paid for 2 nights in an airport hotel.

Last year our flights with AAX was changed and another was cancelled, we were put on another flight that we had no chance of catching. We were not informed and luckily we found out before we left so we fix it up. I booked for my family recently with V Australia... their return flight was changed and again we weren't told.

As forum members we all know to check our flights now, but what the passengers who don't know to do that?
