There are some money change windows,the exchange rate isnt too bad so change up a $50 or so to keep you going! Dont change money before you get there as it will only cost you!
Do not be put off by the porters who will want to grab your luggage after immigration!
Use the porters if you want,even though they only walk you a few meters its better sometimes for first timers as they will usher you to the customs baggage desk then to the money changers,you can tell them your hotel and ask them to find your driver who will be standing in a que with your name and hotel name( you cant miss them unless they are not there on time)
If you do use a porter,once you find your driver (or just before) they will show you a 100,000 IDR note and hold out their hand! Do not give them 100,000 under any circumstance!once they know the hotel you are staying at they will want lots but just give them what is fair to you! a couple of dollars is ok or just 10,000IDR.
Dont be scared of the airport porters,they are all part of the system!
I always use the porters both in and out but they never get more than 10,000.
Sometimes we get waved through baggage check and sometime taken to the front of the que at check in!
They are all part of the fun.
