But most people (Bogans or others) tend to take package deals with hotels in the coastal tourist strip - ie Tuban to Legian. The package deals don't give people the option of spending time elsewhere - you have to organise & pay separately for nights away & transport there yourself, which is hard for newbies.
The cheap air fares ex Perth also allow families on limited budgets to go to Bali - and that's a good thing.
I choose to spend a few days in the Kuta area at each end of my trip to get glasses, clothes made, go to dentist & hairdresser etc. Not to mention the great food. A few nights in Ubud is a must. Spending a few nights in Munduk next trip & Pacung Indah is always a restful retreat from heat & hassles.
