You don't have to use just one bag, so there's really no reason to be doing yourself an injury. Two smaller bags will still let you bring home 19kg of shopping, and you're only lifting 10kg at a time.
I've carried all my own luggage in the past - up to 25kg in a checked bag plus carry on bag. It's heavy, but not impossible. Though I have to say I've never had to carry it more than a few hundred metres.
