Would it be best to go to Lombok first

Hey all..
Im wondering if it would be best to go to Lombok first then to Gili Trewangin...I will be leaving from Padang bai..

Im just not sure and am about to book a hotel Lombok as they look like they are heavily booked for May, but keep wondering if I should just go straight to the Gilies..which would be more cost effective?..
Im only going to stay at both places a total of 3 days...
