Don't stay in central Kuta, stay somewhere around Tuban or Legian, it's closer to everything, and most resorts along the beachfront are quiet, Dynasty is good, Padma, Ramada Bintang. Take a day to go to Waterbom, it good for adults and kids. Hire a driver and go to Ubud, the Monkey Forest, take a look at the rice paddies along the way, also to Celuk for silverware. Take some basic medication for vomiting and diahorrea, but most other stuff can be bought there at an Apotik (chemist)much cheaper than here. There are lots of restaurants, good and bad, a matter of checking them out. Get some leather gear made - about $130 for a short jacket. Pack lightly as excess luggage costs are expensive when you're carrying it all home.
