I found Australian Dr's very blase about the whole virus - my initial Dr that diagnosed was cautious but he did ask me my opinion first, but other's didn't know anything about it at all.
Imagem, I'm sure the local Dr had the correct diagnosis and treatment as they would have seen it many times and the manner in which platelets change would have easily indicated it to them - in Australia it would be rare for a Dr to realise that this was an important symptom, hence the further testing that would be needed.
Hilary, very important for follow-up and monitoring; you might find that the Singapore Health Department has better advice, telling of mild to severe cases or if you want an indepth knowledge the WHO website can tell you more about it (or medical journal sites if you are that way inclined)
Platelets have nothing to do with fatigue and it is common to feel fatigued for months after the initial fever has passed, and you may have very little virus left in the body. I'm sure when the Dengue blood test was performed they would have checked the platelet level and if your partner has no other symptoms such as easily bruising or easily bleeding then the platelets are more likely back to normal.
For ease of mind perhaps take him back to the GP for a full check-over and ensure that Dengue was the cause and nothing else has been contracted. Will rest all of your minds.
Hope he feels better soon and you are more relaxed ;)
