adult but I have a small beef with some parents and their children at hotel pools in Bali. Some people like to winge about the noise they make in the hotel.... Drowning is silent. Please don't get me wrong, the percentage of these situations may be small and I applaud the parents that do everything to keep their children happy and safe on any holiday.... but....would you let you young child swim in your pool at home alone at their own risk here in Australia? No. So why is it ok to do it in another country? Because they have their floaties that they only wear when they are on special holidays, this makes it ok?
Not only would the accident completely crush the lives of the parents and family in question but it would also affect all other guests and staff in the hotel for the rest of their lives too.
We stayed at the Dynasty a few years back and there was a little one that got into trouble in the pool and one of the other guests pulled him out...... ALL CARE GIVEN NO RESPONSIBILITY TAKEN. It is not UP TO the lifeguards to KEEp your child safe. They are there JUST IN CASE ever precaution is take and the unexpected happens. (Plus maybe pull a few drunks out)
Common sense seems to slip some peoples minds when holidaying... even when we holiday in our own backyard.
Just because we are on holidays doesn't mean we can let our guard down and being in another country emphasises the issue, whether you are an adult on your own (sober or smashed) or a parent with children.
We all get so caught up in getting ripped off, pickpocketed, harrassed for free scratchie holidays outside Discovery, getting picked on at Customs, Bali Belly, Excess Baggage... We forget that what we consider standard cautions at home are just as important anywhere else.
Holiday safe and go home safe.
Whether this case is true or not I wish for this to NEVER to happen to any of you or friends or family.
Enjoy Bali but excercise care and caution.
