we have had the "bans of bikinis on Kuta beaches" and many other predictions and statements from Indonesian authorities, but with little to show for it.
Should they happen to change to a more advanced system, which is no bad thing, there is no reason why VIP would not continue as it does in many European and other countries using advanced technologies who also provide express services.
If the "new system" shortens up queues to the extent that an express service is no longer viable it would be a good thing for travellers generally, but sad for the locals who will loose their income because of it.
