pre-exisiting illness & travel insurance

Can anyone help with the name of travel insurance that cover pre-existing heart procedures? My partner has had stents done,and when we tried to get extra cover in conjunction with our gold card travel insurance they asked for several medical reports as well as the forms already filled in by his cardiologist? Any body had any luck without jumping through too many hoops?
