HI Deb,
I haven't stayed in the Balinese rooms but I do know that they have been recently renovated. The only draw back to these rooms that I can see is that it is on a main walkway and everybody who goes out too, or back from the back pool area has to walk past your room.
They are popular rooms and if you are comfortable saying good morning to every one that walks past, then no problems.

We generally stay in the triple room section which is at the front of the hotel and opposite the Balinese rooms.

Alternately the back pool area is clean, has a bar, grassy area, has a good size pool and is generally a meeting place,
I think that the best rooms here, which are all alternately a double bed, or two single beds are rooms 101-108 and the same rooms above, but that is not to say that the other rooms aren't good, just that I think the others are in a better position.
The same type of rooms are also at the front of the hotel just behind and above reception area. Upstairs are quieter and have their own private balcony.

Hope this helps and maybe catch up one day,

Hoolz
