Have now been back home for a week & have had time to once again reflect on another memorable trip to Bali.
Spent 4 nights in Kuta - Poppies cottages (I think this is our 10th or so visit to our 2nd home) a truly pleasurable experience.
Organised business cards, letter heads, envelopes & restaurant docket books for the same price as just the envelopes, here in Oz. Just as good a quality - Indograph in Legian.
Managed to find someone who would do studdyholders for us 3500rp each for 100
Poppies restaurant still do a great rijstaffel & Pina Colada
Moved on to Sanur Beach Villas, thanks again to Irma & Ron for your great hospitality. Hope Rosie has found that special someone.
Met up with Rhonda & Peiter, a truly nice couple. Mind you Peiter, you two would make great hoteliers.
Ron,Ian & Rowie are looking forward to a few cold bintangs under that new "Shed" of yours, next week.
Several meals at Kasuma's, with our new extended family.
Sunday arvo at The Ducks Nutz in Sanur is definitely a must. Billy & Gael were great hosts & it really is difficult to tell who now has the coldest bintangss in Bali. Thanks Gael for the tour of your accommodation at The Ugly Duckling, love the older style Balinese doors to the rooms.
Managed to get in a couple of dives, with Water Worxx out of Padang Bai. A very professional outfit. Picked up from Sanur & an enjoyable day.
From Sanur headed north to Amed. The road works for that last 20km before Padang Bai was pretty horrendous, but the lush rice fields & surrounds made up for this mild inconvenience.
Stayed at Kembali, a small, clean & pleasant establishment, right on the beach. 375000 rp per night, which includes a hot breakfast.
This place has about 8, spacious, air conditioned bungalows. No restaurant but any easy walk to several eateries. The only thing lacking is a refrigerator (which we didn't notice until after we checked in). The staff can keep any perishables etc in their fridge & can be obtained at all times.
The kids that walk along the beach, selling their wares are quite interesting & once they get past the fact that you aren't going to buy anything from them (oh & maybe coax them with a couple of lollipops) they are quite entertaining. Some of the hotels have signs posted asking tourists not to buy from the children
The snorkeling off the beach, in front of Kembali was quite good, for Bali.
BoBo's is a small warung, virtually next door to Kembali & the wife believes they have the best mi goreng she has had in Bali & mind you she has had a few. The fish is fresh & the beer is cold.
Sails restaurant in Amed is a must.
Finally back to our second home (poppies) for some well deserved R n R.
Ron get some beers cold for Sept. (will see you then with a bit of luck)
