Older child may find it ok but the younger ones may find it tiring and even more boring than Bali.
Jakarta is big with high rise buildings, large shopping malls & lots of traffic.
You certainly could not do it as a day (or 2) trip.
I'd go for a week at least.
We have flown to Jakarta from Bali with Garuda a few times.
Sometimes we are in transit on the way to Sumatra.
Other times we have stayed in Jakarta and/or driven to other places.
The times we have had only 3 weeks in Bali we did the Jakarta trip in the middle for about a week.
