In 2006 we flew to Lombok, taxi to harbour, boat to Gili T and then returned Gili T/Bali on Perama. I don't know if things have changed but Perama could drop off to Gili T but not pick up. So we had to catch one of the smaller boats across to the harbour on Lombok, then bus to Sengiggi, small boat out to Perama Boat, then approx 3 hour trip to Padang Bai. We left Gili T at 7.30 am and arrived in Kuta Bali around 3pm. My kids were 3 & 5 at the time and thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.
Would I do it again? Most definitely I think travelling to somewhere is part of the fun. We are going back to Gili T in September, it will be our 1st trip back since 2006 so am thoroughly looking forward to it. Haven't decided on transport yet, fast boat will definitely be one way as we haven't done it that way yet.
