We were on an island and was so upset with our accommodation we booked I ended up paying for the most expensive beach cottage that had a private strip of beach in front of it!

First few mornings I woke up and they were on the lounges meant for us(the chairs were just outside our veranda)they left their towels and books and were gone most of the day!

Third morning I set my alarm for 5am and beat them to it!

Next morning He was up before 5am to claim the chairs but I was way ahead of him again :)

This was all quite petty but they were determined to have those lounges and very disgruntled when they didnt! they had lounges outside their hut but preferred ours as the beach was less rocky and quite private!

In the end, one night ( and pretty drunk) I dragged the chairs and the very heavy concrete umbrella base around the side of my hut.

It was well worth the hassle staying awake just to see the look on his face when they were no longer there!

After dragging them back ( which almost killed me) we spoke to security and they said it was safe to leave our snorkeling gear and towels on them all night!

I have been to Germany a few times and the people are great but middle aged German Tourists seem to be the worst pool chair hogs!

I didnt mind them laying outside our hut or anybody else but there was a sense of ownership because they were booked in the hotel before us and had used them before us!

Younger Germans possibly complain about the middle aged German chair hogs too!

I have had no chance beating them to the pool chairs in other hotels and frankly couldnt care less, but they do seem to think they own a particular spot not just the chairs!
