That's actually a really good idea. I usually have my home drivers license in my wallet with me, but other times I have left it in the safe deposit box with the passport and ticket.
I might take over some blank business cards this trip and do what you do. Handy to have as ID if, gods forbid, something does go wrong, but as you say it's handy if you order something and need to leave your details.
