Wednesday 17th March

Today was to be another good day, a while ago, Wayan had told us about a block of land that his friend needs to sell in order to fund his sons' apprenticeship aboard one of the large cruise ships. The land is in Tejakula, which is on the Northern coast around 45minutes from Singaraja. So today would be our venture to go and have alook and see if it could fall within any future plans

Wayan is originally from Singaraja, so he will have no problem in getting us there. It's another beautiful day, and , although our holiday is swiftly coming to a close (2 more sleeps :( ...we will make the most of what time is left

I can't begin to tell you how fantastic Wayan has been, only ever a phone call away, he has arranged so much, and taken us everywhere we have needed to go.So, it's no surprise that he comes up with the bright idea of making the day into a fulld ay sight seeing. As mom and dad in law have never been here before , it's a great chance for them to see some more of the island. They have already told us they can't wait to come back!

Wayan tells us he taking us up through the mountains and down to the North Coast and then coming back a different way to take in Git Git waterfalls and Bedugul. Mrs W have done said trip before , but we are really looking forward to doing it again. So, we pile into the trusty Avanza and head off on our adventure

It takes us a while to clear the back streets of Denpasar.Today is another family day and everyone seems to be headed the same way as us. We enter the familiar territory of Ubud, and I receive a call from fellow forumite Stormy while en route. We are to meet up at the Ramayana,Kuta on Friday

Our first stop off is the Holy Monkey Forest in Sangeh. There , I pay my 10,000rp entry fee, and marvel at the Pala trees and the fantastic structure that is Bukit Sari temple. The monkeys are everywhere, and soon, they are clambering up on your shoulders for photo opportunities. I paid around 100,000 to the local photographers for 4 shots of us.We also had ample opportunity to get snaps ourselves, and these will soon be on my facebook page.Cheeky creatures these, but very tame, and we had no problems

Back into our chariot, we are whisked back into the mountainous climbs , heading North, the rain is heavy, and there are many mudlsides along the way. Progress is uphill and slow, we are caught behind traffic all the time, and the attendees are getting hungry

It would have been at least 1 1/2 hours later before we exit the rain, and Wayan finds us a local Warung to staisfy our hunger. A simple little place, but the food was so good, and, as ever, cheap.
We spend around 40minutes here before Wayan takes us down some beaten track to find his friend who is selling the land. While we wait fro him to appear, Wayan raids the trees for some fresh Rambutan, these were full of flavour and great to eat straight from the tree

We follow the land owners scooter down a lane that opens up onto some beach front land at Tejakula, and using Wayan as interpreter, we find out that this gentleman owns 6500m2 land, and he has for sale 3000m2 . For this, he wants the princely sum of $36,000 (approx) and we can choose which portion of the 6500m2 we want. He marks our roughly the area, of a 30m2 frontage, and 100m2 going backwards. The block is populated with vegetation and especially some well establsihed palm trees. We then walk along the beach to see what other buildings have been erected in this area. We are not forced into making a snap decision, we all shake hands, and left to ponder a decision. My gut feel is that it is too far out from anything, and will probably be a no-go

Off we go, through Singaraja, and tirn left and head for Git Git... when we arrive it was quite dark and gloomy, and we runa nd walk down the path to get to the falls. Simply stunning, they are absolutely hammering down, spectacular in the sheer volumes of water hitting the pool below, we take the chance to grab some happy snaps

Not staying long because of the ailing light, we quickly board the Avanza and head to Bedugul. Trouble was, everyone had the same idea, and the traffic was slow and chaotic, that slow that we had to abort the final stop of the day, and have to hope we still have time to fit it in during the remainder of our stay

Arriving home around 8.30pm, my step son, as ever is hungry, and I'm sure he has hollow legs. He jumps on his scooter with our order, and whizzes off to his favourite Warung; he returns with his usual booty of Nasi, Mie gorengs and some yummy satays.

I turn in around 11pm, tired form all the travelling, but what to do about that land? I'm sure we have much talking to do regarding this over the next few days

Wharfie's chronicles are fast drawing to a close, only Thursday, Friday, Saturday and the journey home to report on, and I am already looking forward to my next visit

One thing i am not looking forward to is saying goodbye to Wayan and his beautiful family, as I know I will be a jibbering heap :) toughen up I hear you say...easier said than done that one !!!

Thanks for reading again... have a wonderful day...Wharfie...xxx
