A quandary huh?

Interesting to see how the two of you feel afterwards.

My brother, another of us crazy Baliophiles, booked one of the Surati Villas in Jalan Double Six, after several years of various hotels in the Legian area. They were paying for adult kids and wanted something a bit more swish than their usual level of accommodation at a comparable price.

They all absolutely loved it, and he and the kids are convinced that a villa is the way to go for them. The kids, I guess, hit the bars and immediately establish a camaraderie with others of a similar vintage or persuasion and the amenities of the hotel may be neither here nor there. Bro' spends a lot of his time getting "Jayakarta Sue" massages and R&R reading and liked the quiet and peace of the villa.

His wife on the other hand missed the larger pool for swimming the "round the pool"/"breakfast time" hotel camaraderie. They are definitely conflicted for their next return.

I have rented villas in Tuscany and Africa with large groups, and you're really just a party waiting to happen every day, and that is a different scenario again. However, if going to Bali with one's partner (non-honeymoon)and maybe just another couple, I think I would prefer a hotel. All those amenities and the feeling of space over the confinement of a stand alone villa appeals to me more - I feel. In saying that ( & if finances allow) then give me a villa IN a an unnnamed TB hotel anytime
