We've done this before 1/2 through the holiday. Last time went from Legian to Bedugal to the Tree Top Walk and then had a late lunch overlooking the lake. From there we drove on to Lovina and spent three nights.
My son had an ear infection so we were a bit restricted but I stayed with him while partner and daughter went snorkelling early morning.
They had to wait until the boats come back from the dolphin chasing before snorkelling (about 7am I think). A bit of a cartel happeining with the price of the boat trips and have the right money on you as no-one seemed to have change even though they had been out for the dolphin trip! On this boat there were no drinks available on board so take your own.
"Made the driver" has posted some of the other activities around the area and you do need a driver (or your own car) to visit these places. We would have done more had everyone been well. Spent the time reading and relaxing instead. Restaurants and beer very reasonably priced there.
We engaged a driver from Legian and he came back to collect us. The road to Lovina is very challenging as it has a lot of bends going up the mountains and then down. Be prepared for travel sickness if anyone suffers, do take the medication. Our driver really looked exhausted after the drive up to Lovina and had to go home to Denpasar afterwards.
Pressed for time on the way back down south we wizzed past the Bedugul markets and I wish we had stopped here for a bit as they looked really colourful. We did make a quick stop at the "Strawberry Stop", sometime after Pacung I think, and picked up some organinc strawberries to take back to Legian with us. They also sell strawberries and icecream/milkshakes in their shop and you can have a wander around the strawberry farm to stretch the legs.
This trip we are thinking of heading to Amed for three nights.
