Sizing is hit and miss in Bali, especially in the markets. Mostly they go by S, M, L, XL etc, but sizing won't be the same between different market sellers, or even between styles sold in the same place.
I know that doesn't help you much, but that's just the way sizing goes in Bali. Maybe if you get your girlfriend to give you some measurements like her bust/waist/hips and you carry a small tape measure with you (not the blokey hardware store type, but the dressmaker type that will fold up and fit in your pocket or wallet).
