Friday Ku-De-Ta
This morning, on alighting, the girls inform me that they would like a fresh fruit juice from the local ‘juicetaria' that is about a 5 minute drive from the villa, it also doubles as an internet cafe and trendy snack bar. However, this was soon to become my first place of real drama!
When we arrived, I parked outside, and 3 of us went in to get juices. Sitting at the bar was this gorgeous looking 40 something Italian looking lady. Our eyes met, and she bid me good morning. I brushed up against her as I reached across the bar to attain a menu. She is admiring my Calvin Klein Escape, she smiles, and I see her glance at my well toned biceps, I order 3 lots of apple, pineapple and mint juice, and take a seat at one of the funky tables. All the time, I can feel eyes burning into my back. Such tension. The owner beckons me forward to pay for the quickly served juices, and my Italian friend, having finished her lemon grass tea hops out of her seat, smiles once more , and seductively whispers 'Ciao' then...horror... BANG, CLATTER, WALLOP... she misses the step down to the front door and hits the ground with a sickening thud. I turn round expecting to see compound fractures galore, blood, and lots of messy bits as she really did fall heavily. I reach down, put my hand under her right shoulder and help her to rise carefully onto her knees, and then groggily onto her feet. She says that because she smiled at me, and that she was totally distracted, she had forgotten about the step. So, there you go girls, another one that truly fell for me. I'm happy to say she was OK to climb onto her scooter and speed off into the distance
We took our juices and drove down to , what seems to be, our second home, Bintang Supermarket. Here we bought some cereal, fruit, breakfast provisions, and I popped outside to arrange the mortgage for some aftersun and tanning lotion. We also purchased some sour dough from that nice little bread shop
We while away a couple of hours, the Nanny has arrived for her daily test of patience, and I am ready to drive to Ku de Ta for lunch. This was my first time, and, having not been here before, it had a lot to live up to after all the reviews I have read
Well, I can only speak as I find. I thought it was mega expensive, sensational, evocative, trendy, funky and a highlight so far. Please don't go here expecting a cheap bill. Five of us attended , Mrs W, my mum and dad in law, and my gorgeous, delectable, stunning, ( she reads these still), step daughter. So 5 of us, ended up with a bill for 1.5mill rupiah ...eek!
What did we have... ? A bento Box, Swordfish Rendang, Tempura Lobster, and two lots of Pork spare ribs. A few drinks (no Bintang here) and desserts to die for; 2lots of 4 way Creme Brulee and a Raspberry Parfait that was simply sensational....check out my pics on Facebook , all friends gladly accepted !!
Drove back to the Villa, and then it was my sister and brother in laws turn to experience the same place for sunset drinks and a bite to eat. We decided to head off to Kuta to our tailor to get some pants copied, but a few Dvd's and show the virgins the Memorial, Poppies, Bemo corner, and a bit of the nightlife
I have 3 pairs of work pants now on order, Mrs W , has 3 pairs too, and my step son ordered 3 Cashmere suits... so all in all 9 pants and 3 suit jackets and I had to barter really hard to get the whole lot for 4mill rupiah, slightly less than half of the original asking price. This is a little bit more than we paid in November(on average), but we trust the workmanship and the quality, and apparently Cashmere is now quite expensive
We had a real nice long walk last night, all the way from the Stadium Bar ( Go Broncos !!), to Jl 66 where we picked up Mr Bluebird to take us home. The virgins were amazed at the number of shops along the way, the bars, the clubs and nightlife in general.Mind you, as I approach my twilight years, it all seemed a bit too much for me too. I have got to the stage where I put cotton wool in my ears at concerts, and supplement my blood pressure tablets with fish oil and Centrium. Whatever next ? Buying a VIPVOA to avoid a 15 minute queue? nah ! never!
I slept really well tonight, and the sound of the cicadas softly send me off to slumber.Really enjoyed today...did a bit of a lot of things
Tomorrow, my drive to Nusa Dua
Thanks for reading and have a cracking weekend ...WHARFIE ...xxxx
