We've been here now for almost 2 weeks and as usual Bali has lived up to all out expectations.
We were so happy to arrive at SBV for our first week and we will be returning to shortly. Ron and Irma's hospitality is always amazing and we always feel at home (but this home is in paradise). Plenty of Bintangs were shared under the tree of knowledge.
The reason for this trip (well really our excuse) was to celebrate Piete's 40th birthday. We had a social gathering with family and friends at the Ducks Nutz. It was an afternoon do with plenty of cold bintang. The food was delicous, we had fingerfood followed by 2 very special birthday cakes. A great day was had by all, especially Piete. It was the sort of do he had hoped for.
After our first week we headed to Amed. Wow, can't believe after so many trips to Bali we have never stayed here. Absolutely loved it. We stayed at the Amed Cafe and Hotel. A beach front hut was only 300,000Rp per night. It was litterally about 3m from the beach.
The funniest part was we really needed to get washing done. It seemed like we had a tonne. When we went for a swim at the pool, all the pool lounges had been occupied with our washing drying in the sun. The whole lot still only cost us 60,000 Rp.
Sail's Restaurant is an absolute must. The food is exceptional and very reasonably priced. It was a shame we only ventured here on our last night or we would have returned.
We're now enjoying Ubud, seems to be quite cool here. Staying at the Ubud Village Hotel. The rooms are beautiful. The pool is currently "under construction" but they will drive you to their sister hotel to use their pool. Great Location on Monkey Forest Rd and close the markets and palace.
We had Babi Guling for lunch yesterday, the restaurants are all fantastic.
Looking forward to returning to SBV in a few days for our last week which will include a day of silence?? on Nyepi Day and the Ogoh Ogoh on the day before. Nyepie day will be a great day with a great bbq and social day planned.
