I have been taking a heap of prescription medications overseas with me for years now, almost enough to start my very own Apotik. I believe the actual regulations allowing the carriage of these med's requires a covering letter from your doctor (explaining types, dosages, etc) while the actual medicines should be carried in a separate container in the original packaging. If this is done you have fulfilled all international obligations and the med's themselves will be exempt from all existing security with respect to liquids, volumes, etc.
All of this information is available through the appropriate government websites which are always worth a quick check.

Cheers and have a great holiday
