The first five rows are what AirAsia calls Hot seats.
I have flown AirAsia numerous times in the past so I'll share my experience with them.
As you mentioned, the main advantage is being able to board first. Likewise, you'll be one of the first few off the aircraft.
Only Row 1 (1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E and 1F) have extra leg room as these are bulkhead seats. Rows 2 to 5 DO NOT have extra legroom and are like any other ordinary seats throughout the aircraft (with the exception of the Exit Rows).
When flying AirAsia I will *always* purchase a Hot Seat, in particular 1A or 1F. You have a very comfortable amount of legroom and on the past 4 occasions I have been the very first person off the aircraft. It as an extra cost, yes, but when you consider how little is it for some comfort it is certainly worth it.
