Definite benefit going over is that you are the first out for VOA. I though there was extra leg room but some don't think so. They reckon there's more in the other rows as you can stretch your feet out under the chair in front of you.
Biggest benefit for me with 2 boys, 3 & 6yrs, was that I didn't have to worry about them kicking the cr*p out of someone's seat in front the whole way. Also, both ways, the hostie asked my boys if they'd like to meet the pilots in the cockpit after landing which they loved. Clearly that might not happen but did on both our flights.
Depends if any of the above apply to you. If not then it may not matter! : )
