kuta & legian are busy areas yes but they also have all the entertainment at your doorstep. Staying in a nice hotel on the beachfront you wont notice the hussle & bussle once inside the grounds.
Maybe for singles, hotels you may want to look at are 3-4 star hotels. I find the star rating is a bit different to here in aussie. I have stayed in a 2 star hotel that would be 3.5-4 star in ausiie.
The higher end hotels would probably have a lot of couples, honeymooners etc. Just check out beachfront hotels then do some review searches to see if they are family orinentated.
