Stock up the fridge day !!
I can't believe how quickly the weekend has dashed past. It's Monday morning, I'm up early , had a shower ( still no hot water) and ready for some brekkie. We have all commented on how the perspectivity (word for the day) changes rgearding our villa during the day, compared to night.
By nightfall, the Villa looks quite small, during the day it seems huge. Fortunately, one thing that never changes is the size of big American fridge, which holds a carton of Bintang quite easily.Another thing that never changes is the hundreds of orders I am receiving from Mrs Wharfue regarding shopping, cooking and general ad hoc niceties.
In all my visits here, I had never visited La Lucciola, that was about to be put right and that was to be our venue for breakfast this morning. As there are now 11 of us , Wayan had to ferry us in 2 groups . Being ever the chivalrous type, I decided to wait for the second trip, not only is that the courteous thing to do, but the boys would have also got me a Granita in for when I got there:)
Well, what a great spot, and I was well impressed with its location, and although it is pricey by Balinese standards I really enjoyed my salmon omelette, coconut toast with guava jelly, and of course 2 pots of Earl Grey. Today was a happy day, my first day with HP sauce, how good is that? The bill for all of us was 1.5million , as I said, yes.. expensive..service fantastic, view unbelievable, food ...simply sublime ..and although I won't be going back (been there don that scenario) I can highly recommend
As my mother-in-law is feeling less than well, Wayan took her back to the Villa for a rest and to take some tablets. Accompanying her back "home" was Mrs Wharfie, the 2 littlies, and my bother and sister-in-law. The rest of us caught a cab, and headed of to Bintang Supermarket in Seminyak. There we stocked up on Bintangs, water, ice, fruit, electrical adaptors , cereal, eggs, mozzie repellents etc... these were in the form of a plug -in and are called "HIT"... they work really well
Wayan came back to allow us to put all the shopping away, and also to get the ice back to the Villa before it turned into 2 bags of water. It is very hot here at present, the humidity is extreme and aircon is very welcome. My brother-in-law and I left Wayan to do his own thing, and we headed off towards JL 66 for some refreshment. We ended up at Restaurant 66 , where I enjoyed a very hot beef rendang and a couple of beers. We were soon met by my sister-in-law who had paid a local to bring her to us on the back of a scooter ! each to their own I guess
After an hour or so, we caught a cab back to the Villa and I got "one of those looks"and a "where have you been all this time" looks :). I'm loving having all the family around on holiday and it's so good to be doing all this together
Early evening, Wayan popped out to get us a few Nasi and Mie Gorengs plus Cap Cay and some beautiful grilled snapper. When you do this, and hand over 400,000rp for 11 meals, you realise just how expensive La Luciolla is !!..but, and as I said, wouldn't have missed it for the world.
At this point, I have to admit I am feeling really guilty that I am doing so little, and that the housekeepers are looking after us so well. We have all decided that by the end of this week we will all chip in some $$$ to by them something nice . At least at the Novotel there are European nations to upset, and towels to gather up.Here, it is so difficult just to do nothing. That may appear strange but that's how it is.
Tomorrow's episode will be basically about what we all did on a very laz day at the Villa...as I type this, it's midday and I've done bugger all!!
Thanks for reading...Wharfie...xxx
